Adamant Entertainment’s fiction line is available through distribution to bookstores worldwide, via Ingram. This has us carried at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other major stores — and, of course, this means that we’re available to any store that uses the industry-standard distribution system.</p>

However, as an independent production company, we like (when possible) to deal directly with other independents — so if you’ve got an indie bookstore near you, feel free to point them in our direction and have them drop us a line. We will be happy to work with them to craft terms and get our books into their store — including sending a sample digital copy in their preferred format for their review.

Our initial offering is TALES OF THE FAR WEST, a short fiction anthology set in our western/wuxia steampunk mash-up, Far West. The book features stories from:

  • Matt Forbeck (Amortals, Vegas Knights, Carpathia, etc.)
  • Tessa Gratton (Blood Magic, Werewolves & Shapeshifters, Corsets and Clockwork)
  • Dave Gross (Prince of Wolves, Master of Devils, former editor of Amazing Stories)
  • Will Hindmarch (The Thackery T. Lambshead Cabinet of Curiosities, The Bones: Us and Our Dice)
  • Scott Lynch (The Lies of Locke Lamora, Red Seas Under Red Skies, The Republic of Thieves)
  • Ari Marmell (The Conqueror’s Shadow, Agents of Artifice, The Goblin Corps, etc.)
  • Aaron Rosenberg (various novels for Star Trek, StarCraft, Warcraft, Eureka, Stargate Atlantis and Warhammer)
  • Eddy Webb (Senior Transmedia Developer, CCP/White Wolf)
  • Chuck Wendig (Double Dead, Blackbirds, Irregular Creatures)
  • …and, of course, the FAR WEST development team of T.S. Luikart and Gareth-Michael Skarka

A sample of Scott Lynch’s tale, “He Built The Wall To Knock It Down”, can be found here.

Future fiction releases will follow in the second half of 2012 and into 2013. We’ll be announcing the schedule soon. So drop us a line, Indie Booksellers! We’d love to work with you.

Due to multiple factors (cost of production, performance of The Villainomicon through distribution, and — to be completely honest –the relative weakness of initial orders through distribution) Adamant Entertainment has made some decisions regarding planned future ICONS releases, Adventure Omnibus One and ICONS TEAM-UP.

Adventure Omnibus One — a print collection of existing PDF adventures, is being cancelled, as initial orders through distribution were not particularly strong. The few people who pre-ordered the Omnibus will have their orders refunded today. PDF adventure support will continue, however — including a public release of the original ICONS pre-order adventure, The Sidereal Schemes of Doctor Zodiac by Steve Kenson, which originally was only released to pre-order customers of the ICONS core rulebook, and was to make it’s public debut in the Omnibus.

ICONS TEAM-UP will no longer be released through distribution, but will instead be available (in print) direct-to-consumer via the Adamant Entertainment and Cubicle Seven webstores. To be blunt, we feel that this will give us the best return on the sales of the book, and makes the most financial sense for our company.

As such, the pre-order period will be extended until APRIL 15th, 2012. Copies can be ordered at the Adamant Entertainment webstore. We urge you to do so, because the size of our print run will be based partly on our total pre-order numbers. (We will be ordering more than the pre-order, to stock both webstores, but the final number will be influenced heavily by the pre-order figures.) So please, if you’re wanting a copy, try to pre-order.

Pre-order customers will receive the PDF of ICONS TEAM-UP when it goes to the printer during the week of the 15th, and the book shipped to them soon after.

To head off the inevitable questions: This is ABSOLUTELY NOT an indication that ICONS is “dying”, or going away. These decisions just make the most financial sense for Adamant — keep in mind that on sales through distribution, a publisher (on average) only sees somewhere around 35% of the cover price. At the numbers we’re talking about, it just makes more sense for us to do this direct to you, the gaming consumer.

Thank you for your understanding, and watch for announcements of further ICONS releases soon!

Back in October, we had the good fortune to attend a screening of The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension at the New York Film Festival. The screening was hosted by Kevin Smith, and featured a Q&A after the film with Peter Weller and John Lithgow. This Q&A was recorded for posterity for the archives of the Banzai Institute, and we include the video below. Adamant Entertainment Director and The Buckaroo Banzai Adventure Game designer Gareth-Michael Skarka had the good fortune to attend, and got the chance to thank Mr. Weller and Mr. Lithgow (starting at around 44:00).

The Buckaroo Banzai Adventure Game is on schedule for a release this Summer, and is currently available for pre-order (click the “Store” link above). Our original press release can be read here.

This will not come as any surprise to people who have read my blog or followed me via social media for the past couple of years, but I felt that it was important to state officially. — Gareth-Michael Skarka

Adamant Entertainment stands opposed to the Stop Online Piracy Act and it’s Senate version, the Protect Intellectual Property Act. These are over-reaching and poorly-written laws, bought and paid for by media conglomerates in an effort to prop up their 20th-century business models.

Adamant products sell via the internet. We are “pirated” every day. Adamant would rather deal with unauthorized file sharing as we currently do — combating it with cost and convenience, and converting unauthorized users into customers and fans — than support a law which is nothing more than the latest attempt by corporations to put the genie back in the bottle and turn the internet into cable television, with controlled access and controlled content.

Simply put: The greatest leap forward in human interaction and communication since the Gutenberg Bible is more important than their business model — or ours, for that matter.

We urge you to please phone your Congressional Representatives and Senators today. Don’t email, as it will probably be auto-answered and ignored. Talk to someone. If you can, visit their local office. Tell them to oppose these laws.

Thank you.

Adamant Entertainment is pleased to announce that the official Far West Forum is now live! Head on over, register and take part in the palaver.

The forum will be your central discussion site for all things FAR WEST — questions, comments, conversations and more. We just opened the place, so I expect that there will be some dust here and there, and things may change as we open new categories up as sub-forums, but for now, come on in, put yer feet up and enjoy yourself.

You’re free to talk about anything related to Far West here — the game, the books, the site, even related “inspirography” materials.

The forum also features a private subform for members of The Far West Society, our official fan membership community, available by subscription. If you’re not already a Society member, subscriptions are available over on the Far West Society page, for only $10.00 US for a six-month membership.

Thank you, and we look forward to talking with you!
